It’s been a week of sick kids at my house, so we’re running through all kinds of low-key activities. We’ve been keeping busy with stacks of stories, books on tape (does your library have playaways?? They’re amazing!), podcasts, and playdough, but they’re starting to get bored with all the things. Me too, honestly.
I’ve been wanting to post about Kevin Henkes’s spectacular new book, so I decided we’d make a game of it! I sketched out some simple baby birds, eggs, and a crocodile; my five year old helped me color and cut, and the two year old had lots of fun matching colors and hiding baby animals! It kept everybody busy for, well, about 20 minutes. I’ll take it, though. Sick days are long.
