About

img_3682-jpgHello! I’m Anna, creator of @kidlitcrafts and The Tangled Yarn. I’m a mom to two kids, a former middle school language arts teacher, a voracious reader, and a hopelessly messy crafter. I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but right now being a mom is pretty great.

As a lifelong lover of books, I am absolutely thrilled that my kids share my passion. We’re lucky enough to live in a city with an incredible library system (thanks, Allen County Public Library!), so our passion can be explored without breaking the bank! Every week, we visit our library in search of our next favorite book. I started this blog and my instagram account (@kidlitcrafts) in part as a way to share my finds with you!

While I believe that raising readers is clearly important, raising
creative kids is no less vital. Sometimes, though, it’s hard to know where to start. That’s why I like to use the stories we read as a jumping off point to stimulate creativity. So many of these books are truly inspirational. I’ll share the projects we do- what worked and what didn’t- in hopes that you’re inspired to create as well!img_9244

I know that art with kids can feel overwhelming: it can be crazy and messy and sticky and loud. Creativity is truly a tangled thing, but the benefits are so worth it: critical thinking, problem solving, language building… the list
goes on and on. Not to mention the incalculable benefit of giving your children a lifelong love of art. With this site I hope to give you the inspiration, practical advice, and support you need to bring a little more creativity into your home.img_9195

I’m a lifelong believer in the power of both story and art; I want kids to experience that magic, tangled though it may be.
